Jaseng Hospital of Korean Medicine (Medical Director Dr. Jinho Lee) has been conducting clinical training program on Korean medicine for Russian and Belarusian medical staff since November 25th.
This international training group, consisting of six physicians in the field of neurology and rehabilitation medicine from Russia and Belarus, visited Jaseng Hospital of Korean Medicine to learn and experience the principles and effects of Korean medicine treatment. This clinical training program for international healthcare professionals is very meaningful in that the collaboration between conventional medicine and Korean medicine have achieved good outcomes with the launch of the 3rd stage of the ‘Integratvie Medical Collaboration of Conventional and Korean Medicine Pilot Project’ which began in last October by the Korean Ministry of Health and Welfare.
The clinical training program runs for three consecutive weeks until the 12th December. On the first day of the visit, the trainees toured the facilities of Jaseng Hospital of Korean Medicine and experienced Korean medicine treatment, and then started training.
The characteristic of this training program conducted by Jaseng Hospital of Korean Medicine is that a systematic curriculum has been prepared for trainees to make the best use of Korean medicine even after their returning home. It consists of lectures optimized for hands-on treatment practice as well as classes on basic theories of Korean medicine. In addition, all the lectures are conducted by the major medical staff of Jaseng Hospital of Korean Medicine.
Hands-on practice on Chuna manual therapy and MSAT by each body part
Also, Jaseng Hospital of Korean Medicine has divided the lectures on Chuna manual therapy, a representative Korean manual therapy that has recently been included in the coverage of National Health Insurance in Korea, into six themes to provide training on the differences in diagnosis and treatment according to the diseased areas such as the lumbar spine, cervical spine and hip joint.
In particular, hands-on training on Motion Style Acupuncture Treatment (MSAT) that is an emergency acupuncture treatment of Jaseng Hospital of Korean Medicine, has been practiced by each body part, which draws great response from the trainees.
Furthermore, trainings on Korean medicine treatment such as bee venom pharmacopuncture and pharmacopuncture, SJS Non-resistance Therapy, and treatment of gynecology diseases are included. Also, trainees will visit the Jaseng Spine and Joint Research Institute and Jaesng herbal dispensary (Namyangju) to learn about the standardization and scientification achievements of modern Korean medicine.
“We are very excited about learning new treatment methods that we haven’t seen before in Russia.” said Prof. Vladimir Lim, a Russian medical professor at the I.M. Sechoenov First Moscow State Medical University, who participated in the training program. “I think we will be able to benchmark the advanced integrative medical system of Jaseng Hospital of Korean Medicine and apply it to the local hospitals in Russia.”
“We hope that this training will enable Russian and Belarusian medical staff to make full use of Korean medicine treatments, and at the same time, facilitate the exchange of medical technologies and research between countries.” said Dr. Lee Jinho Lee, Medical Director of Jaseng Hospital of Korean Medicine. “I will be dedicated to supporting the group so they can learn a lot about the Korean medicine even for a short period of time.”
