‘Jaseng Medical Academy’ has been established as an education institution affiliated with Jaseng Hospital of Korean Medicine (Medical Director Dr. Jinho Lee), along with the launching of an online medical education platform (http://jaseng.education) to provide education programs that offer continuing medical education (CME) credits to domestic and overseas physicians.

Through this online platform Jaseng Medical Academy will be operating enduring education programs with CME credits on a regular basis. U.S.-based physicians will be able to earn CME credits through these programs, and the courses are open to Korean medicine doctors, physicians, and other healthcare professionals in Korea and from overseas.

CME programs serve to provide professional medical education that reflect the most recent, rapid advancements in technology and learning to meet social demand for higher social and educational integration, physician proficiency, and technical innovation. U.S. physicians must meet state CME requirements to maintain their license.

Providing Online Offline CME Programs for Physicians

Jaseng Medical Academy’s CME courses are available in both enduring (online) and live event (offline) formats. Jaseng Medical Academy offers online CME courses on non-invasive integrative Korean medicine treatment in video, audio, and reading material format. A variety of Web-based CME content including ‘COVID-19: A quick guide for primary care physicians’ is currently provided online, and new content will be uploaded on a monthly basis.

Various offline CME programs and live events including the ‘Annual Jaseng Academic Conference (AJA)’ and ‘2020 Jaseng-AOA Visiting International Physician (VIP) Training Program’ provide international clinical education opportunities to physicians and medical students. Jaseng Medical Academy also offers open educational resources and medical information articles for non-physicians and the general public to facilitate easy access to healthcare contents.

U.S. physicians are earning CME credits through Jaseng’s non-invasive treatment education programs…and promoting the excellence of Korean Medicine in the U.S.

In July 2019, Jaseng Hospital of Korean Medicine was accredited as a CME provider by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME), the organization that accredits and manages CME providers and sets the standards for CMEs. Moreover, Jaseng Hospital of Korean Medicine has conducted several CME sessions for Doctors of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) through the American Osteopathic Association (AOA).

In November 2019, Jaseng Hospital of Korean Medicine was selected as a participating institution for the ‘Korean Medicine Globalization Support Program’ grant funded by the Korean Ministry of Health and Welfare, through which it provides various international physician training programs. To further strengthen its medical education contents, Jaseng Hospital of Korean Medicine signed an MOU with Arkansas Colleges of Health Education (ACHE) in December 2019. The institutions are collaborating to enhance exchange in various academic, research and clinical areas, and are conducting discussions on joint provision of educational programs and the prospects of establishing an integrative medicine and education center within the College of Osteopathic Medicine at ACHE.

Medical Director Dr. Jinho Lee of Jaseng Hospital of Korean Medicine commented, “We wish to contribute to the improvement of global health by providing high quality education on Jaseng’s non-invasive spinal treatments to both Korean and overseas physicians,” and added that “In these challenging times of the COVID-19 pandemic, Jaseng will continue to provide CME programs to U.S. physicians, and to develop quality CME programs and promote the excellence of Korean medicine.”
