Jaseng Medical Academy’s Director of Global Affairs, Ji-Yun Shin Awarded Global Healthcare Merit Award from the Minister of Health and Welfare at the “2020 Medical Korea Brand Launch Ceremony and Symposium”
Ji-Yun Shin, director of global affairs at Jaseng Medical Academy, a global healthcare education institution affiliated with Jaseng Hospital of Korean Medicine (Director Jinho Lee), was awarded the global healthcare merit award by the Korean Minister of Health and Welfare at the Medical Korea Brand Launch Ceremony and Symposium on October 14th, 2020.
The Medical Korea Brand Launch Ceremony was held at InterContinental Hotel Seoul Coex, in Samsung-dong, Seoul, where the Ministry of Health and Welfare and Korean Health Industry Development Institute (KHIDI) awarded selected institutions and individuals with merit awards in recognition of their substantial contributions to strengthening Korea’s global stance in medicine and healthcare sectors.
Ji-Yun Shin, director of global affairs of Jaseng Medical Academy, has continued to work actively in the global healthcare division as the head of global cooperation of Jaseng Hospital of Korean Medicine and the director of global affairs of the Korean Medicine Hospitals’ Association, and was recognized for her contributions to publicizing the excellence of Korean medicine globally at the ceremony this day. Director Ji-Yun Shin has led collaborative projects with various leading global healthcare institutions in promoting the globalization of Korean medicine. She has especially focused her efforts on establishing a global level Korean medicine training program and curriculum to provide global healthcare professionals the opportunity to experience and apply Korean medicine in their clinical practice.
Through these efforts, Jaseng Hospital of Korean Medicine was certified by the Accreditation Council of Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to provide continuing medical education (CME) to physicians in the U.S. Last December, Jaseng Medical Academy signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Arkansas Colleges of Health Education (ACHE) and is currently in collaboration to provide Korean medicine medical education to medical students and physicians at ACHE Arkansas College of Osteopathic Medicine (ARCOM).

Jaseng Medical Academy was established to the aim of improving healthcare around the world through innovation of education and training in Korean medicine based on the latest research and evidence. The Academy’s mission is to improve the quality of healthcare and provide vetted information to both healthcare professionals and patients to strengthen trust and understanding and thus enhance treatment outcomes. As a result, Jaseng Medical Academy is expanding and strengthening ties with healthcare professionals in the U.S., Russia, and Kyrgyzstan to gather momentum in development and implementation of Korean medicine education and training programs and to establish a strong foothold in its advancement overseas.
Director Ji-Yun Shin commented during her awards speech that “Through prolonging of the COVID-19 pandemic, medical education is accelerating its shift to online delivery formats to observe social distancing recommendations. I will continue my efforts in my commitment to spreading the excellence of Korean medicine on a global level through systematic and standardized education.”
