MSAT is a treatment method utilizing active and passive exercise with assistance from a Korean medicine doctor while the acupuncture needles are inserted.

This is an acupuncture developed by Dr. Joon-Shik Shin, founder of Jaseng Hospital of Korean Medicine, and it immediately relieves pain for musculoskeletal disorders such as acute low back pain. In 2013, a study published the Journal of PAIN (an official journal of International Association of the Study of Pain (IASP) reported that MSAT is 5 times more effective than diclofenac injections for acute low back pain.

Jaseng Hospital of Korean Medicine continues to invest in research and development not only for the education on MSAT but also for treatment development. For example, a patent registration for the MSAT treatment device was made last year in Korea (registration number 10-1967371). This device is designed for voluntary rehabilitation exercise of patients with musculoskeletal disorders based on the principles of MSAT and is currently widely used for the treatment of patients and the education for medical staff.
