On July 17th, students of Zhejiang College of Traditional Chinese Medicine visited Jaseng Hospital of Korean Medicine and observed how Korean medicine services are carried out at an actual treatment site.
For the visit, 17 health and medical students from the Zhejiang College of Traditional Chinese Medicine majoring in preventive medicine, health service management, administration, and marketing were present. They visited Jaseng Hospital of Korean Medicine as an example to learn about practical medical management including topics like patient safety, disease control and security.
Jaseng Medical Foundation has the largest number of accredited Korean medicine hospitals by the Korea Institute for Healthcare Accreditation (KOIHA) under the Ministry of Health and Welfare in Korea, with a total number of 13 Korean medicine hospitals including Jaseng Hospital of Korean Medicine (Gangnam, Seoul) and other foundation-affiliated branches spread out throughout the country. Jaseng Hospital of Korean Medicine is working hard to improve patient safety and quality of care. The students of Zhejiang College of Traditional Chinese Medicine visited the Korean medicine clinic, treatment rooms, examination rooms, etc. of Jaseng to see actual patients being treated. The students received guidance on patient safety, disease control, treatment systems and organization of medical personnel.
During the visit, students toured the hospital—noting the treatment environment and medical equipment, before asking various questions about Korean medicine and hospital operation. They particularly showed interest in the integrative medicine system that Jaseng Hospital of Korean Medicine established.
“Most of the hospitals in China are federal institutions, so there are few places where the latest medical technology can be used to treat patients like at Jaseng,” said Pung Pu-yi, a student from the Preventive Medicine Department of Zhejiang College of Traditional Chinese Medicine. “I was impressed by not only the focus on professional care, but also the systematic management of even minor parts of patient care such as disposable bed sheets for patients’ health.”
“As Korean medicine’s excellence is disseminated abroad, visits from foreign students are continuously increasing. We are delighted to introduce the patient management and medical treatment system of Jaseng to the students of Zhejiang College of Traditional Chinese Medicine,” said Dr. Ha-Neul Kim, director of the International Clinic at Jaseng. “I hope this visit will pave the way for the further cooperation between Jaseng Hospital of Korean Medicine and Zhejiang College of Traditional Chinese Medicine.”
